Community
… shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life … — Philippians 2:16
In our mission statement we are clear about wanting to affect and reflect our community. Our community activities are designed to help us do that just that. Each of these activities is fully supported by the whole church and participation in these is always exciting, fun and rewarding.
ESL Classes
Every morning, Monday through Thursday, since 1998, the North Orange County Community College District has offered free English as a Second Language classes at our facility. Besides making our facility available for this class, AFCC volunteers provide childcare.

The ESL class is taught by Teresa Edgington who also just happens to be a member of our church. It is a perfect partnership for the people in our community who want to improve their English skills. Any and all are welcome to start at any time. Interested parties should arrive by 8:00 a.m. to register with Mrs. Edgington.
My Safe Harbor
My Safe Harbor is a non-profit corporation dedicated to maximizing service to the at risk single mother population in the immediate vicinity of the church. Offices and meeting rooms for MSH are located in AFCC’s Harbor House, at 819 S. Harbor Blvd. Under the leadership of Rebecca S. Ahlberg, Executive Director, and the MSH Board of Directors, this outreach conducts various programs designed to help at risk women redirect their lives in God-Centered ways. Counseling, Mother’s Clubs, Computer classes and cooking classes are just a few of the ways this agency seeks to serve the community.

Becky Ahlberg conducts a Mother’s Club class on nutritional and economic ways to feed a family.
Decreasing Gang Violence by Baking Cookies
Each month, AFCC members provide homemade cookies for all the G.R.I.P. (gang reduction) parent meetings conducted by the Anaheim Police Department in the area schools. While a cookie may seem like an odd response to the problem of gang violence, cookie receptions at these meetings do increase attendance, thereby helping local law enforcement have positive, preventative contact with parents.
Our Kids Our Schools
AFCC members actively seek ways to be supportive of of the four elementary schools in our immediate area. To that end, we provide, upon request, various needed services, programs or events requested by school administrators. One such event is Revolution: An Enrichment Fair for children and their parents. On Revolution days, as many as 100 AFCC members and friends join forces to run interactive booths where children and parents can experience various aspects of the arts, science, food, math and physical activity.
